The Rocky Point School District is pleased to welcome Christopher Van Cott as assistant superintendent of business and Lauren Neckin as assistant principal at Rocky Point High School. They were appointed at the Aug. 26 Board of Education meeting. Mr. Van Cott officially begins his role on Sept. 25 and Ms. Neckin on Sept. 27.

Mr. Van Cott brings more than a decade of professional experience to this position, most recently in the Oceanside School District as assistant superintendent for business/treasurer. He earned advanced certification in school district business leadership from Stony Brook University, a master’s degree in banking and finance from Dowling College and an undergraduate degree in business management from Five Towns College. He is a member of the Association of School Business Officials International, Nassau County Association of School Business Officials, New York State Association of Business Officials and the Stony Brook University chapter of Phi Delta Kappa.

Ms. Neckin holds a Master of Science in educational leadership from American College of Education in Indianapolis. She also earned two master’s degrees in early childhood/special education and family and consumer sciences education from Touro College and City University of New York at Queens College, respectively. Her undergraduate degree is in speech communications with a minor in human relations, which she earned at St. Joseph’s College. Ms. Neckin spent much of her career in the Great Neck Public Schools, where she both taught and gained leadership skills, most recently as the department head of family and consumer sciences. She holds New York State certifications in school building leadership, students with disabilities at all grade levels, and K-12 family and consumer science. She also has coaching experience in girls soccer and girls basketball and is professionally affiliated with several educational associations.
