The Rocky Point School District is pleased to announce that 32 students were selected to participate and perform with various Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association All-County ensembles. SCMEA sponsors and organizes numerous All-County music festivals (band, orchestra and chorus) each year for students in grades 5-10. The All-County Music Festival is an opportunity for students to be rewarded for their individual success on their instrument or voice. The SCMEA All-County Music Festival allows students to perform with some of the finest musicians at their age level throughout Suffolk County. Students participate in a series of three weekend rehearsals that culminate with a special concert. SCMEA is a county affiliate of the New York State School Music Association, a state unit of the National Association for Music Education.

“We are very proud of all of the students selected to perform at the SCMEA All-County Festival,” said Rocky Point music department chairpersons Mr. Craig Knapp and Ms. Amy Schecher. “Their success and achievements are worthy of high praise. It is an honor to be selected for participation in an All-County festival. We would also like to thank our incredibly dedicated and hardworking music faculty for taking the extra time to nominate and prepare the students for this special event. Thank you to the families of these talented students for all their support and encouragement. We would also like to thank the Rocky Point administration and Board of Education for continuing to support the musical endeavors of our students. On behalf of the entire Rocky Point music department, we extend our heartfelt congratulations on a stellar series of concerts this past weekend at Southampton High School!”
