The academic, leadership and service accomplishments of 91 Rocky Point High School juniors and seniors were commended this spring as the scholars were granted membership into the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society. During an induction ceremony, the students joined current members and took the official oath of membership.

“Being inducted into the National Honor Society represents a wonderful achievement, as these students are being formally recognized for their efforts and accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character,” said adviser Guy Reid.

To be inducted into the NHS, students must excel not only academically, but also in the areas of leadership, service and character.  Students are first identified by their academic standing, and then must complete an application including an essay, multiple recommendations, and documentation of involvement in extracurricular and community service activities.
