What if you could design a classroom?

That was just one of the many options that Rocky Point Middle School sixth graders had during an Advisory Ed camp on Feb. 16.

The students got to choose from 19 different courses ranging from theatrical dance, making Play-Doh, inspiration jars, art therapy, mindfulness and yoga, golf, wrestling, card games, caring for a pet, Spiro excitement, foil, stain glass, learning to braid hair in the cosmetology room, relaxing crafts, a STEAM activity, learning all about the police force with the school’s SRO officers, and – as is sweeping the nation – a Swifty celebration!

“It was a great way to celebrate so many learning avenues we have in our district,” Principal Dawn Meyers said. “The students really embraced not only the courses but the paths they can take and balance they can create for hobbies, crafts and sports beyond their school day.”
