The Rocky Point High School math team put the fun in fundraiser to raise awareness and money in addition to recognizing March 14 as the annual celebration of the mathematical constant Pi (π). The students sold paper pizza slices and toppings to students and staff members. The pizza slices were then hung at the front entrance of the building.
Along with math teacher and math team adviser Mrs. Janece Alfredson, students Isabel Bellport, Edward Curley, Abigail Glennon, Ashley Golden, Rosario Orantes and Erin Ward raised $250, which will be donated to The Madagascar Ankizy Fund, an organization that has built schools in remote areas of Madagascar. Manombo, a two-room schoolhouse located in southeastern Madagascar, is recognized as The Rocky Point School for the more than a decade of support from the district.
