JAE students are celebrating their love of reading with WARM (We Are
Reading More), and as part of the monthlong festivities they welcomed
children’s book author Mr. Jeff Nathan for a day of learning literacy
through humor and empowering alliterative creations. Through
grade-specific assemblies and workshops, Mr. Nathan worked with students
to reinforce the joys of reading. In an interactive workshop with third
graders, together they created a story using alliteration as he
described the function of the creative literary tool. Coordinated by
librarian Mrs. Monica DiGiovanni, the schoolwide program encourages a
goal of reading 500,000 minutes through the month of January. The
students are tasked with reading in school and at home for enjoyment and
are following a calendar filled with engaging, literacy-based
activities.
