Students at Frank J. Carasiti Elementary School celebrated creativity, connection and collaboration the week of Sept. 15 with International Dot Day.

During art classes with Ms. Gaudioso, students in kindergarten, first grade and second grade read “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds, a story that encourages children to embrace their creativity, take chances and see where their ideas can lead.

Inspired by the book’s message, “Just make a mark and see where it takes you,” students created their own original art projects that are displayed throughout the school, allowing the school community to see the many ways a simple dot can inspire something bigger.

International Dot Day gave students an opportunity to celebrate their individuality while also contributing to a collective display of creativity throughout the building. The celebration served as a reminder that every student has the ability to create, collaborate and make a mark on the world.
