Rocky Point High School Musicians Soar in Spring Concert

On the evening of May 20th, 2026, the Rocky Point High School held their annual Spring Concert! Congratulations to Ms. Jessica Spitz and the High School Treble Choir and High School Concert Choir; Mr. Vincent Ragona and the 9th-10th Grade Band; Mr. Nicholas Butcher and the High School Orchestra and High School Chamber Orchestra; Ms. Amy Schecher and the 11th-12th Grade Band. The groups all performed very challenging selections with great artistry. The concert was exceptionally well-received by the audience.
The evening began with the 9th and 10th Grade Band featured several soloists during its program, including Benjamin Griepsma (Alto Saxophone), Jaxon Hoffman (Trumpet) and Kyle Berberry (Trombone). Their portion of the program was also highlighted by a world premiere performance of young composer Ethan Mangeri’s “Blue!” The High School Treble Choir, performed a diverse program of music that featured soloists Molly Hanley, Ellise Henkin, Jiselle Sinclair and Rebecca Watkis. The High School Orchestra then performed a demanding program followed by a finale for the first half of the concert by the Symphony Orchestra, featuring members of the High School Orchestra and 9th and 10th Grade Band. The High School Chamber Orchestra then performed a program of classical music. The High School Concert Choir performed a program of music that featured a soli group that included Jonathan Alesi, Skylar Bachur, Olivia Carley, Serena Carley, Erin Curtin, Marisa Hansen, Owen Hayes, Gabriela Madrid, Samantha Normandin, Leila Rinaldi, Richard Rishkel, Grayson Steigerwald and Andrea Vergara. The evening concluded with a wonderful performance by the 11th and 12th Grade Band. The concert concluded with a very moving finale that included the Concert Choir, Chamber Orchestra and 11th/12th Grade Band performing selections from the famous “Requiem” by W.A. Mozart.
A congratulatory message from Rocky Point Music Department chairpersons Mr. Craig Knapp and Ms. Amy Schecher read: “The continued advancement of our student musicians since their concerts in December is significant. It was a terrific night of high-quality music making. We are very pleased with the success and ability that was on display throughout the evening by our stellar student musicians. We are also very lucky to have such a remarkably hard working and dedicated music faculty at the Rocky Point High School. A special acknowledgement goes out to the Rocky Point seniors for performing in their final concert. The Rocky Point music faculty wishes them all the luck and we hope they experience the highest level of success and happiness in all of their future endeavors. Thank you for bringing us many years of hard work and great musical memories. Lastly, thank you to the families of these amazing students for all of their encouragement and we would also like to thank all of the administrators and Board of Education members in Rocky Point for their continued support of our music programs.”
