Peace, Gratitude and Community at JAE
Joseph A. Edgar Intermediate School kicked off Thanksgiving week with its annual Peace Pole Celebration, bringing together students, staff and community members for an afternoon filled with unity, gratitude and kindness. Principal Nicole Pletka opened the event, followed by a beautiful performance of the national anthem and “A Candle of Peace” by Craig Knapp and the High Notes.
Community members John McNamara and Keith O’Brien led students in the Peace Pole Movement and Peace Song, reminding everyone of the power of compassion and cooperation. Students also heard uplifting messages from teacher Mark Yashowitz and the school’s Academic Leaders, inspiring them to carry peace into every day.
A special highlight: The Rocky Point Rotary Club gifted the JAE Garden Club with decorated peace rocks that will be placed around the school as colorful reminders of kindness in action. This celebration continues to shine as a beloved JAE tradition and the perfect way to welcome the Thanksgiving season!
