Principal Pletka joined Mrs. Arnesen’s class to share a special read-aloud of I Am We: A Book of Community by Susan Verde. The book, which was a signed copy, felt even more meaningful knowing that the author herself lives right here on Long Island. 

Through the story, students reflected on the importance of kindness, mindfulness and connection. They discussed how taking care of themselves allows them to be more compassionate and supportive toward others, and how even small acts can strengthen their classroom community and show Eagle Pride. The experience highlighted the book’s central message: when we care for ourselves and one another, “I” becomes “we.” I am we, I am JAE!
