A day of celebration, pride and recognition for the outstanding accomplishments of Rocky Point senior student-athletes was held on May 22 at the annual college signing day.

Welcomed by Athletic Director Jonathon Rufa, words of encouragement were the focus of the pivotal moment that signified the next chapter in Rocky Point student-athletes’ academic and athletic journeys. “This is about more than scholarships and signatures. It’s about perseverance, passion, and the power of a strong community,” Mr. Rufa said.

Mr. Rufa noted that earning the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level is no small feat, with only about 5% of high school athletes nationwide reaching this level. He lauded each student for pouring their hearts and souls into their respective sport. 

In his address to the students, Mr. Rufa commended the students for spending countless hours on the field, in the gym, watching film, training, studying and sacrificing weekends and late nights. “You’ve endured early mornings, tough practices, long car rides and everything in between – all for the love of the game and the dream of continuing your journey at the next level.”

He concluded the event by saying “as you embark on this exciting next chapter, we wish you nothing but success and happiness. Always remember to “FLY LIKE AN EAGLE”, wherever life’s journey takes you.”
