Students Learn to Turn Struggles into Strengths
The Rocky Point PTA, under the guidance and sponsorship of Vice President Shannon Kelsey, member Marie Stewart and SERC liaison Beth Henry, were instrumental in bringing Jordan Toma to Rocky Point High School on April 21.
Mr. Toma – a motivational speaker/author – shared his story of overcoming a variety of learning disabilities and anxiety throughout his school years with students in grades 9-11.
His message of never giving up, “Your struggles will become your strengths” resonated with the students.
“Mr. Toma was very personable, interactive, funny and easy for the students to identify with,” Principal James Moeller said. “He took the time to talk to students at the end of his presentation, where many shared their thanks and identified with his struggles and were inspired to keep moving forward.”
Mr. Toma’s goal is to aid students in creating a foundation of belief, confidence, work ethic and everything in between to become the best person each of them can be.
