Thank You, Officer Allison!
“Is it true that policemen like to eat donuts?”
That was just one of dozens of more serious questions posed to School Resource Officer Karl Allison from the Suffolk County Police Department’s Community Relations Bureau on a visit to Joseph A. Edgar Intermediate School this week.
During special assemblies and classroom visits, Officer Allison talked about various safety topics including the dangers of bullying with third graders, internet safety with fourth grade students, and the hazards of vaping with fifth graders.
His visit to the school is part of the County’s goal to build better relationships with schools to provide students with the ability to develop close relationships with their SRO. Officer Allison worked with the students to present the topics in a way that engaged them and spoke to them in relevant terms, while also sharing his unique perspective and on-the-job experiences.
