The Rocky Point School District has formed a Literacy Forum as part of a
review of literacy instruction and achievement districtwide.
Representatives from K-6 schools were selected from volunteers across
the district. The first forum was held this past June and a survey was
created that was administered to all K-6 staff. The results of the
survey were presented to the reading forum members at a follow-up
meeting on Sept. 24. This presentation of results was used to design a
K-6 Literacy Initiative with both horizontal and vertical alignment. The
Literacy Forum again meet in October to further review literacy
programs, resources, and approaches that will best meet the needs of our
Rocky Point students.
