Dear Rocky Point Community,

As we have now officially commenced the 2019-2020 school year, I am pleased to announce the district has finalized the appointment of several key administrative roles.

Susann Crossan, who has served as high school building principal since 2015, has been named the district’s new assistant superintendent, filling the position that I held this previous school year. Since starting in the district nearly two decades ago, Mrs. Crossan has worked diligently to foster strong relationships with students, staff and parents as she worked steadfastly as a champion advocate for all educational programs. Her leadership has also brought great distinction to our schools, including earning the high school several honors and helping to elevate students’ academic performance to an all-time high. Her commitment to our district is evident to all who know her and served as a standout quality early in our interview process for this position. The district will be conducting a thorough interview process in the coming weeks to identify a candidate to fill Mrs. Crossan’s prior position as high school principal.

Kristen White, who has held the position of special education coordinator and director of support services, has been appointed the district’s new executive director of pupil personnel services. A member of the administrative team since 2014, Ms. White has consistently demonstrated a commitment to ensuring that all students are provided with a high level of education and support services. As such, we are confident that her dedication to supporting staff and students will continue to enhance districtwide initiatives in this new role.

Having spent the last school year as Rocky Point Middle School’s interim principal and interim assistant principal, respectively, the district is proud to appoint James Moeller as the building’s new probationary principal and Dawn Meyers as the probationary assistant principal.

Mr. Moeller is a long-standing district professional, having begun his career as a teacher at the Joseph A. Edgar Intermediate School, and has worked at the middle school since 2007. As a consummate professional, Mr. Moeller has helped to create an open line of communication for parents and students at the building as well as aided in the implementation of numerous new initiatives. I am confident that his years of experience will continue to help our district bolster its middle school initiatives.

Ms. Meyers has been a professional in the district since 2001, working as a seventh grade mathematics teacher and in-service administrator in various capacities. She has been a valued member of our educational team, having participated in several planning committees, as well as helping to develop curricula through writing projects and strengthened community outreach. Her approachable and friendly demeanor is certain to be a continued asset to our middle school’s leadership team.

Please join me in congratulating each of these individuals on their appointment and wishing them well in these new and continuing roles.

Sincerely,

Dr. Scott O’Brien
Superintendent of Schools
