Originality, creativity and vision topped the list of two JAE students’ poster entries in the New York State Senate Earth Day Poster Celebration. Kendall Nabb and Elyanis Ramirez – fourth graders in Deborah Vieira and Lisa Celentano’s class – were recognized for their participation in the contest and were honored with certificates from Sen. Anthony Palumbo for their achievements. Encouraging young students to develop an awareness of the environment and its resources and the importance of recycling and waste reduction is part of the goal of the contest. “They worked hard designing, writing and coloring their posters to pass on the Earth Day message: Reduce, reuse, recycle to save the Earth,” Mrs. Vieira said.
