Dear Parents/Guardians
The Rocky Point School District has partnered with the North Shore Public Library to sign your student up for a public library card. The North Shore Public Library has many useful resources to support your student’s academic pursuits as well as independent interests. Some of the free services your student will have access to with their library card include:
• Access to Suffolk County’s vast print and in-hand collection
• Access to Suffolk County’s digital library collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks
• Access to free online tutoring, SAT prep, and skills building through Brainfuse
• Ability to sign up for programs and events (in-person and virtual)
• Live Streaming of movies and video content
This partnership allows for students to borrow eBooks and eAudio books through the District’s newly established digital library collection, Sora by Overdrive. Through the use of their public library card your student is now only a few clicks away from thousands of resources, book titles, audiobooks, and so much more.
The Library Department at Rocky Point Schools is excited to teach your student how to access these free resources to support their in-person and virtual learning.
The North Shore Public Library will be mailing your student’s library card home. Please be sure to keep the library card in a safe place as the barcode number on the card is the gateway to these resources. Please also put your barcode in a Google Doc so that you can always find it for use with the Sora eBook platform in school.
If you have any questions or would like more information please do not hesitate to reach out to the library media specialist in your student’s building.
Thank you.
