Rocky Point Middle School students culminated a sewing project with a tasty cooking lesson. The seventh-grade Home and Careers students in Agnes Ntiri and Laurel Janson’s classes handstitched colorful aprons and celebrated by rolling out dough to make cinnamon rolls.

The sewing unit taught them the techniques to sew a square corner, curved seams and edge stitches at the end of their seams. It also expanded their knowledge and built upon their previous experience and skills from their sixth-grade lessons.

“I made mine pink so I can give it to my mom for Mother’s Day,” said student John Skula.

According to teacher Agnes Ntiri, the students were proud of their finished products. “They had fun making them and were excited to be able to actually use them in class,” she said.
