Sharing College Experiences 2
Rocky Point High School seniors had an opportunity to look inside the world that awaits them after graduation during a recent college readiness program held this winter.

During the event, recent Rocky Point graduates returned to the school to speak with current seniors about their first semester college experience. The alumni spoke about the degree of difficulty in courses, the importance of time management and the difference between going away to college versus attending a school close to home. Additionally, the graduates stressed the importance of working ahead on assignments, gaining a deep understanding of the process for writing and citing sources on research papers as well as utilizing support services available on the campus. The students also spoke about balancing their academic commitments with social activities and the need to get involved in campus organizations pertaining to their major.

To help further spark conversations about the diverse number of colleges available, staff members and students were asked to wear meaningful college attire on the day of the event.
