As a result of their academic dedication, 60 Rocky Point Middle School eighth-graders were recently inducted into the school’s National Junior Honor Society.

The students were selected for this prestigious honor based on their excellence in scholarship, service, character and leadership. During the ceremony, they were celebrated by the school’s administration and advisor Catherine O'Connell, as current members described the mission of the NJHS and helped to administer the membership oath.

In addition to the new members, the ninth-grade NJHS members, who were inducted last year, worked with Ms. O’Connell to vote for a special teacher inductee.

Teachers who cared deeply about their students, encouraging and motivating them to learn, were nominated for the honor. This year’s honoree was teacher Joseph Settepani.
