Top of Their Class

Rocky Point High School seniors James Gohn, Matthew Brewer and Daniel Infranco have been named the Class of 2016 valedictorian, salutatorian and exhortation speaker, respectively. All three scholars have amassed countless honors and accolades during their academic careers to earn them the top three spots in their graduating class.

James is an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction, member of the National Honor Society, New York State Mathematics Honor Society and has been named to the Principal’s List since 2012. Outside of the classroom, he performs with the school’s orchestra, is the captain of the varsity soccer team and a member of the varsity lacrosse team. James is a dedicated volunteer, serving as a math and chemistry tutor, altar server and dedicates many hours to several other charitable organizations. He will be attending Stony Brook University this fall to major in mechanical engineering.

Matthew is an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction, member of the National Honor Society, New York State Math Honor Society and president of the Class of 2016. He is also a member of the high school’s Mock Trial team, Math team, secretary of the school’s science club and participated in the Moody’s Mega Math Challenge in 2015. Additionally, he is the team manager for both the varsity wresting and baseball teams. Matthew has worked as a senior counselor for the North Shore Youth Council Summer Buddies Program since 2014 and previously as a junior counselor. He will be attending Fordham University in the fall to major in economics.

Daniel is an Advanced Placement Scholar with Honors and is a talented student-musician, who was cast as the lead in the high school’s musical, and named the principal French Horn player in Suffolk County. He is a member of the National Honor Society, president of the Math Honor Society and vice president of the Student Council. Daniel is also a member of the high school’s varsity track and field, cross-country and swimming programs. He will be attending SUNY Geneseo to major in biology.
