The Rocky Point School District Board of Education has appointed veteran educator Charles Delargy as the district’s new director of health, physical education, athletics and intramurals, effective July 1. Mr. Delargy will replace current director Amy Agnesini who will be retiring this June.

Mr. Delargy comes to the district with a wealth of educational experience in the field of athletics and physical education. During his 10-year service as the coordinator of health, physical education and interscholastic athletics in the Sayville School District, Mr. Delargy was an integral part of creating the district’s wellness policy, automated external defibrillator program, emergency action plan and concussion awareness policy. Additionally, he designed two multipurpose fitness facilities focused on cardiovascular fitness and created an academic awareness program for the athletic teams.

In addition to his work in Sayville, Mr. Delargy served in a similar capacity for the Hauppauge School District for two years and became well vested in central office administration during his six years of service in that area. Most recently, he worked as the business administrator in the Locust Valley School District.

Professionally, Mr. Delargy has served on the executive board for Section XI of New York State Public High School Athletic Association and has been an invited speaker at several county and state conferences.
