Rocky Point High School’s student council sponsored the school’s first Christmas Tree Challenge this winter to benefit four distinct causes.

Each grade level was given an identical pre-lit Christmas tree and a theme in which to decorate it. Every theme represented a different charitable cause, and students were encouraged to bring in an item corresponding to their grade level’s theme: animal shelter (freshmen), nursing home residents (sophomores), newborn babies (juniors) and soldiers serving overseas (seniors).

The high school administrators selected the ninth-grade class for having the best tree, and the high school student council donated $100 to Save-A-Pet in their honor.
