Building upon the legacy of past squads, Rocky Point High School’s varsity cheerleading team captured their 12th consecutive bid to compete at the UCA National Competition in February.

The team, led by head coach Anna Spallina and assistant coach Ariana Scanlon, earned this honor based on their performance at the UCA Empire Regionals, held at Hofstra University this December.

“I'm proud to say that with this very young team, which includes eighth-graders and only two competing seniors, we were able to successfully defend our title at the Empire Regionals,” said Spallina. “The team followed tradition by taking first place in a very competitive division. The question every year is, can we defend our title under such pressure? This year, the girls impressed everyone in the arena, including the judges, with their explosive performance.”
