Rocky Point Middle School eighth-grade student Madison Jacobelis is working on creating cultural awareness about the dangers of energy drinks as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award project.

As part of this effort, she has created an informational handout on the dangers of these popular drinks and has spoken publicly about her work during the district’s middle school parent/athlete/coach and Wellness Committee meetings.

Additionally, she was introduced as a safety ambassador during the Youth Sports Safety Forum, hosted by Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker, the Shoreham-Wading River School District and Section XI Athletics. This event focused on educating parents and coaches on best practices to keep youth safe as they participate in local athletic leagues.
