Joseph A. Edgar Intermediate School fifth-grader Giovana Improta was named a winner in the NYS Kids Safe Online Poster Contest, selected from a pool of more than 1,200 entries.

The contest, sponsored by the New York State Information Technology Services Enterprise Information Security Office, encouraged students in grades K-12 to create original designs promoting the importance of online safety. Giovana’s winning poster will now be submitted to the National K-12 Poster Contest, conducted by the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center, and may be used in national, regional and state cyber and computer security awareness campaigns.

The school’s other fifth-grade entrants received letters and commemorative certificates for their submissions.
