Rocky Point High School’s marine science classes learned about the importance of the horseshoe crab during a recent in-school workshop.

Dr. John Tanacredi from CERCOM at Molloy College spoke with the students about his research on the subject matter and shared a video by National Geographic Wild that demonstrated the importance of the creatures to pharmaceutical companies, as well as its mating and reproductive processes.

The students also had the opportunity to hold live horseshoe crabs and ask questions of Dr. Tanacredi and his assistant, Sixto Portilla.
