In addition to the winning spirit they display on the baseball field, the Rocky Point High School varsity baseball team regularly displays outstanding character and leadership in their community.

Before the April holidays, the team volunteered at Maureen’s Haven, a shelter that serves the homeless during the winter and early spring months, providing individuals with dinner, a place to sleep, a warm breakfast, and a bag lunch for the next day.

During their visit, the team helped to set up a bed for each person, decorated the site for Easter and set the tables for dinner. They made several baked goods and bagged the nonperishable food items they had collected for the next-day bags.

The varsity team is coached by Andrew Aschettino and assistant coach Eric Strovink.
