Dear Rocky Point School Community,

The New York State Education Department and Department of Health have provided guidance, outlining the safety measures that must be taken during and throughout the reopening process for schools. These documents are posted to the reopening section of our website, and detail various aspects of reopening schools from both a health and education perspective.

The information from our surveys combined with input from our reopening committees, and requirements outlined in guidance from the Department of Health and New York State Education Department, will serve as the framework for how we plan to safely reopen for our students and staff for the 2020-2021 school year.

The Rocky Point School District is working diligently to finalize our reopening plan. The completed plan will be posted to the website Friday, July 31st and submitted to the state for approval. The results from the community survey in addition to a question and answer document for families and staff will also be posted with our plan.

As a reminder, the final determination of whether our district’s plan is approved will be made at the state level. It is expected that the Governor will announce his decision regarding the reopening of schools August 3rd – 7th.

Thank you for your support as we continue to work together to plan for the reopening of our schools.

Sincerely,

Dr. Scott T. O'Brien
Superintendent of Schools
