First graders read the children’s book “Stick and Stone” by Beth Ferry and discussed how to be kind to others. They then used sticks, stones, clay and paint to create a special gift of friendship.

Teacher Ms. Jennifer Meschi had each student pick a classmate’s name out of a hat, keep it a secret and then make their craft into something they thought their friend would like. “It was so moving for me to watch them create something so special for a classmate,” Ms. Meschi said.
